Over £1,600 raised for Springhill Hospice at charity event

Date published: 26 November 2013

A cheque for £1642.13 was presented to Springhill Hospice by organisers of a charity event in aid of the hospice.

DJ, Miss H, who helped organise the event in memory of Ann Medford said: “We were pleased with what we raised. Anything would have been good really.”

The event, which was held at Bar Mystique, upstairs from the Flying Horse Hotel, was a soul and disco funk night which saw local acts give their time for free to help raise the money. The night included performances from mind magician Jonathan Royle, singer Danny Kay and DJ sets from Miss H and DJ Pepz.

An auction also took place which included prizes such as a framed Joe Hart signed shirt, a framed football boot signed by Ruud Van Nistelrooy and a cricket shirt signed by England players.

Miss H added: “We are happy now that we have given the money to the Hospice.”

Miss H now plans to hold a fundraising event for the RSPCA animal shelter next year. She said: “I have wanted to do something for them for ages but it will be some time next year now.”
