A Celebration of Achievement

Date published: 25 November 2013

Siddal Moor held its Annual Awards Evening on 21 November for the Class of 2013.

The main focus of the evening was to celebrate the successes of previous Year 11 students who achieved the best exam results in the school’s history.

The evening opened with songs from Year 7 and 10 Students.

Steve Britton the Headteacher addressed the students and congratulated them on their recent exam successes and recalled some fond memories of this year group and wished them even more success for the future.

The school welcomed guest speaker Vicky Binns former Emmerdale and Coronation Street. Vicky regaled students’, parents and staff with stories about her school life and rise to fame as an actress. Her lasting message to the students was to “always aim high and if you don’t succeed, keep on aiming”.

Students were then presented with Memorial, Whole School Awards and their GCSE Certificates.

Award winners included Georgia Haughton, Jasmine Dawkes, Daniella Gabbott, Abbi Grindrod, Olivia Balfe, Jake Bruce, Sophie Aylward, Euan Clough, Aidan Kay and Aaron Anderson.

The evening closed with Former Head Boy and Girl, Aaron Anderson and Jasmine Dawkes handing over the responsibilities to the current Head Boy and Girl, Jordan Hancox and Caitlin Mathews.
