Rochdale Council Cabinet Meeting – 18 November

The agenda includes the expansion of St Andrew's school, financial updates and council tax reforms.

A fresh consultation regarding the expansion of St Andrew's school was presented to the Cabinet.

The Cabinet was asked to decide whether or not statutory proposals should be published to make a significant enlargement to St Andrew's CE Primary School to admit up to 45 children in each new year group from 1 September 2014.

The Cabinet was also asked whether to support the governing body of St Andrew's CE in publishing proposals to change the age range to 3-11 by the establishment of a 26 full time place nursery with effect from 1 September 2014.

The Cabinet noted that the Overview and Scrutiny Committee agreed the report at their last meeting.

Plans are supported by local councillors and ward councillors.

Item 7 is regarding the School Funding Formula for 2014/2015.

The report recommends that the Cabinet approve the school funding formula to provide funding to primary and secondary schools.

The report recommends increasing the funding surrounding deprivation.

There will be no impact on particular schools or sectors regarding the proposed changes.

Councillor Lambert praised the work undertaken by teachers and parents regarding schools.

The Cabinet agreed the report.

Capital Financial Update for 2013/2014 is next.

The report updated the Cabinet on the council’s financial position.

The Cabinet agreed the report.

Revenue and Financial Update projects a saving of £2.7 million.

The report notes that there is an overspend in Children’s Services and Environmental Services.

The Cabinet agreed the report.

Council Tax Reform’s report asked the Cabinet to consider and approve changes to some of the existing council tax discounts for empty properties arising from new
legislation.

The Cabinet agreed the report.

Final item – Quality Premium in Learning Disability Supported Living Services.

The report reflects the high needs of people living within supported services.

Councillor Lambert offered his full support for the report.
