Volunteers at the Springhill Hospice Christmas Fair
Emmerdale actress Meg Johnson officially opened the Springhill Hospice Christmas Fair this morning (Sunday 17 November), which was also attended by Rochdale Mayor Peter Rush and Mayoress Monica Rush.
This year's Springhill Hospice Christmas Fair was “the busiest yet” as hundreds of people
flocked to the Hospice. Hospice Community Fundraiser, Lillie Winterbottom said: “It has definitely been busier than last year. I don’t know what is different but it is as if something has happened to make everyone come today.”
The corridors and rooms of the hospice were transformed to hold over 55 stalls, which included homemade cards, jewellery and food. Games were also part of the fair along with tombola and raffles.
Lille added: “We have received some fantastic donations from people.”
Food was also on sale at the fair and included Indian, a BBQ, a chocolate fountain and a sweet stall.
A Grotto was open for children to meet Santa and receive an early Christmas present. “We had a great Santa and the children seemed to love him,” said Lillie.
Lillie added: “It has been fantastic but it has been mad.”
