Free Christmas meal at Castle Cafe

Date published: 16 November 2013

Castle Cafe is opening its doors on Boxing Day to provide a free Christmas meal for the elderly.

Along with the meal, diners will have the opportunity to play bingo, enter a raffle, join in a "good old sing along" and enjoy a glass of sherry.

The cafe needs help with provisions and is asking companies and individuals for donations of food.

A spokeswoman said: "We would be grateful if companies would donate vegetables, potatoes, turkey, crackers, Christmas pud (we do have a list) or raffle gifts, or ask staff to all bring a tin in and make a hamper we could raffle off.

"If you know of anyone that might be on their own please ask them to get in touch.

"We are doing two sittings one at 12.00 and one at 4.00pm and seating is limited so you do need to book a chair.

"If anyone can help in any way please get in touch or drop any items to the shop.

"Thank you in advance."

Castle Cafe is on Hill Street, Rochdale OL16 1SR.
