Jake Winnard using his sporting talent in Motocross

Date published: 12 November 2013

Jake Winnard is using his sporting talent in Motocross and has just finished third in the Go Racing Championship.

This year he was hoping to take part in the Red Bull Elite Youth Cup. He started the season off strong, but due to sickness he was unable to participate in the rest of the series.

He is now looking forward to taking part in the Red Bull Elite Youth Cup in 2014.

Jake got his first motorbike when he was five and started racing at the age of six. His dad inspired him to take part in Motocross after having taken part in the sport himself when he was younger.

When Jake was 11 he achieved fifth in the series in the British Schoolboy Motocross Association (BSMA) and also finished ninth in the British Youth Motocross.

Jake, a Year 9 Wardle Academy pupil, said being allowed to have one day off school a term has helped him. The day off enables him to train with his coach and sponsor Danny Tollet Who runs the NMA (National Motocross Academy). Jake’s fitness has also improved with regular PE and swimming.

Jake said: "I would like to pursue a career within motocross, although I am currently unsure what area I would like to go into.

"I would like to thank my sponsors Danny Tollet, who runs the NMA, and Keith Needham at SMracing."
