Hamer Community Primary School

Date published: 08 November 2013

Earlier this week a number of our children enjoyed their first after school drama workshops. These have been organized in conjunction with the M6 Theatre and the children had an absolutely brilliant time.

The children are really excited about accessing these workshops every week and we would like to thank Mrs Coward and Miss Wild for organising this opportunity.

Over the course of this academic year and the next we are involved as a school in a ‘Lesson Study’ research project in conjunction with Edge Hill University. The purpose of the project is to further enhance and develop teacher professional development giving them opportunities to learn from each other, develop their practice to enhance the quality of teaching and therefore pupil progress. Mrs Hoyle, Mr Khan and Mrs Smith have been working together this week and teaching in Year 5.

As you know from previous newsletters, our Year 5 children will be going on their residential visit to Robinwood Activity Centre in January 2014. From next week, there will be a number of parent meetings. The Upper Key Stage 2 team will be in touch with more information for those of you in year 5. The children are already excited and, as you know, the cost of this fantastic experience is heavily subsidised by the school to ensure that all of our children have the opportunity to learn together outside of school

The School still has one vacancy for a Community Governor. Should anyone be interested, please do call into the school office for more information. The Governing Body plays a vital role in The Leadership and Management of the School. If you feel that you would like to contribute further to the success of our school then please do consider this important role.

As part of our IPLCN network, the newly qualified teachers from all of our schools will, next week, have the opportunity to observe practice and learn from each other. This further strengthens the professional development opportunities for our teachers across the IPLCN and supports our commitment to succession planning and growing leaders of the future.

On Friday 15th November, as a fundraiser for Children in Need we will be having a Spotty Day. Please can children bring 50p and wear something spotty. Thank you.
