RSPCA Rochdale needs help with abandoned puppies

Date published: 07 November 2013

RSPCA Rochdale needs help in tracing the mother of five abandoned puppies.

The puppies, which were brought into the centre on Tuesday 5 November, are just three weeks old and were found by a man at Hollingworth Lake who believes they were going to be dumped or drowned by their owner.

The five puppies, which have been named J.B., Aston, Marvin, Jessie and Rita have been checked by a local vet and are ok but have been separated from their mother too soon. As well as this having an effect on the puppies, the puppies’ mother will also be affected as she is still producing milk for them.

Donna, an RSPCA inspector has contacted several vets in an attempt to find the mother of the puppies but has yet had no luck.

The next few weeks have been deemed critical for the five dogs. Staff at the centre are now on extra feeding duty as the puppies need feeding every 3-4 hours, including during the night.

The centre is also looking for donations of puppy food, puppy pads and blankets over the next few weeks to help with the care of the puppies.

RSPCA Rochdale is asking anyone who may have information regarding the puppies to contact them at the animal centre.
