Drug dealer from Rochdale jailed

Date published: 06 November 2013

A drug dealer has been jailed for his part in a heroin and crack cocaine enterprise.

Shane Peter Fish (08/04/1978) of The Cray in Milnrow, Rochdale pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to possession with intent to supply heroin and crack cocaine, and supplying class A drugs.

Today, Wednesday 6 November 2013, Fish was jailed for three and a half years at Minshull Street Crown Court.

On 20 June 2013, officers from Greater Manchester Police were on patrol in the Willows Lane area of Rochdale when they saw Fish leaning in to a black Peugeot 307.

Officers believed a drugs deal had taken place and managed to stop the Peugeot, however Fish, who was on a bicycle, cycled away from the scene.

Officers searched the occupants of the Peugeot and recovered crack cocaine and heroin with a street value of £560.

While officers were searching the Peugeot, officers pursued Fish and he was arrested at his home on The Cray in Milnrow, Rochdale.

A search was carried out at the house where officers found crack cocaine and heroin with a street value of £24,000 which was hidden inside a bedroom drawer. Digital scales and packaging were also found.

Police Constable Niki Merrett of the Rochdale Organised Crime Unit stated: “Fish’s brazen attitude was seen first-hand by police officers, as he dealt drugs in full daytime view of the public.

“The seizure of these drugs means that a significant amount of heroin and crack cocaine has been removed from the illicit Rochdale drug supply trade, and prevented up to 2500 individual drug deals taking place.”

Members of the public wishing to report drug crime in their community can speak to police on 101 or make an anonymous report via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
