The best type of bubbles

Date published: 17 October 2013

Thanks to the generosity of the Garfield Weston Foundation, Springhill Hospice is now able to buy a state of the art bath to benefit its patients.

The family run foundation responded to a request from the Hospice for £30,000 to purchase a Hydro Massage Sound and Vision bath.

The hydromassage element creates millions of small bubbles to generate a gentle massaging effect to stimulate blood circulation and ease muscle tension. At the same time, the sound and vision aspect produces colourful underwater lighting and soft music to help calm stressed or anxious patients.

The bath and the inpatient bathroom refurbishment is part of a much bigger project which will see the day hospice, therapy rooms and laundry have a overhaul thanks to a £406,000 grant received from the Department of Health. The work starts on site on 14 October and is due to be completed by the end of March 2014.
