Smallbridge Girls Group held a family fun day at Smallbridge Library today (Sunday 13 October) for everyone in the area, as well as raising money for Springhill Hospice.
Nadeem Hussain, organiser of the event, said: “We are trying to celebrate a mixture of cultural events. We have an Eid theme as well as a Halloween theme.”
Young people in the area decided upon the activities at the event, included face painting, a bouncy castle, balloons and rock climbing. Nail painting, hair braiding, raffles and information stalls were also available.
Hassan Shah, who helped organise the event, said: “Everything we asked for is here. It has taken about two to three months to sort everything out and we’re really pleased with it all.”
Claire Braddock, who attended the event, said: “I use the library service so I thought I would come along because it’s a local event.”
Lynn Kilgour, who works for the library on a Saturday as well as working for Rochdale Boroughwide Housing through the week, said: “These events are good because they bring everyone together from different backgrounds.”
