The Council paid the Hay Group £27,163.46 to produce their report on Senior Executive pay at the Council
Rochdale Borough Council paid tens of thousands of pounds to consultants who have recommended massive pay increases for top Council executives.
The Council paid the Hay Group £27,163.46 to produce their report on Senior Executive pay at the Council.
Asked to comment, a council spokesman said he could not "confirm or deny" the figure but it is "in that region".
The Hay Group, which describes itself as “…a global management consulting firm that works with leaders to transform strategy into reality”, has recommended huge pay increases for Chief Executive Jim Taylor and other senior council executives at a time when council staff are restricted to a pay rise of just 1% and more redundancies have just been announced.
The pay recommendations will be put to a full meeting of the Council next week, at 6.00pm on Wednesday 16 October at Rochdale Town Hall.
The proposed increases have generated a great deal of anger amongst residents of the borough. An e-petition has been started calling for the pay rises to be deferred until April 2016 and it is understood a protest outside the Town Hall prior to the Council meeting is being organised.
