B&M and Home Bargains restrictive recruitment rumours untrue
Date published: 10 October 2013
Rumours that B&M and Home Bargains in Rochdale are only accepting job applications from people on benefits have been denied by both stores.
It had been suggested that both of the stores were only accepting job applications from people who are receiving benefits but both stores have flatly denied these rumours.
A spokesperson for Home Bargains said: “I can confirm that only accepting job applications off people who are on benefits or signing on is totally against Home Bargains’ policy and this allegation is being investigated.
"Home Bargains recruits the best possible person, regardless of whether they are on benefits or signing on.”
Pauline Hastie from B&M Head Office said: “That is simply not true.”
The new B&M store opened on 5 October. Home Bargains is set to open a new and bigger store in Rochdale.
