Ian Nuttall completes Ladybower 50 for Springhill Hospice

Date published: 10 October 2013

Ian Nuttall took on the Ladybower 50 mile challenge in memory of the late Andrew Chadwick and in aid of Springhill Hospice.

This amazing feat had a time limit of 13 hours with Ian finishing in a fantastic 11 hours 24 minutes, in blazing heat, seeing his fellow runners falling by the wayside, many of them dropping out at the 35 mile mark, not even a recently broken toe could stop him running the full 50 miles.

Last week Ian visited the Hospice bringing £744 of sponsorship money with him. Ian is no stranger to raising money for the 16 bed hospice, having taken part in Woofs and Wellies Walk earlier this year.

"This challenge was huge, we come across some fantastic people doing some phenomenal things and this one is up there with the hardest" said Lillie Winterbottom, Springhill's Community Fundraiser.

"However, Ian isn't stopping at the Ladybower 50, this father of three is planning his next endeavour, running the length of Hadrian's Wall, Carlisle to Newcastle, which is 70 miles.

"What a great guy, we are just completely in awe of him and his achievements, physical and financial.

"Springhill relies on the dedication of people such as Ian to raise the £2.7m a year it costs to keep our services up and running free of charge to the people of Rochdale".

If you would like to raise money for Springhill Hospice but the Ladybower 50 is a little out of your reach, you could have a go at Springhill's now legendary Father Christmas Fun Run on 8 December when hundreds of Father Christmas' walk, strol, run, pram push and dog walk around Hollingworth Lake in in aid of the Hospice.
