Rochdale born Harley Bird, 11, stars as Piper in the movie adaptation of Meg Rosoff’s highly acclaimed young adult novel, How I Live Now, which was released in the UK on Friday 4 October 2013. Directed by Oscar winning 'The Last King of Scotland' director Kevin Macdonald, Harley stars alongside 'The Lovely Bones' actress Saoirse Ronan who plays the lead role of Daisy, Piper’s cousin.

Harley achieved previous success on the small screen as the voice of Peppa Pig in the much-loved children’s cartoon. She became the youngest ever BAFTA winner in November 2011, receiving the Performer award at the Children’s BAFTAs for her voice-over work.

Harley is the daughter of Rochdale businesswoman Gill Riley, the managing director of plant hire company GGR Group.

Harley comments: “I’m so excited that the film is finally out, I had a lot of fun filming it with Saoirse and the rest of my screen family.”

“How I Live Now” is now showing in cinemas nationwide.
