Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH) has a small furniture and white goods reuse scheme. Its prime purpose is to help young people set up their first tenancy, but RBH will also consider requests on behalf of other people in need.
RBH collects, checks, repairs and cleans items from empty RBH properties, take donations from people about to move and from the public.
Currently the scheme is operated from a secure basement, so people cannot view goods on the premises, instead RBH takes the item to a resident's property to view and payment is cash on delivery.
A spokesperson for RBH said: "You tell us what you need and if we’ve got it, you can have it. If not, we put your name down and let you know if anything comes in.
"It’s not free, you pay a small amount into the scheme to keep it going and help the next person (see sample amounts in the leaflet that can be downloaded below). "
