Rochdale Youth Orchestra welcomes new members

Date published: 05 October 2013

Rochdale Youth Orchestra has welcomed three new members to their ensemble and today (Saturday 5 October) held an open day for potential new members.

Sue Verity, conductor of the orchestra said: “The new players have been welcomed and we welcome all who want to come.”

The open day gives potential new members a feel for the orchestra before they officially sign up. New members can attend three rehearsals for free giving them chance to decide if they want to permanently join. From then on, the cost is £30 per term.

The orchestra performed two pieces. Sue said: “First we performed a simple piece to ease the new members in and then we performed Pirates of the Caribbean, which everyone loves.”

The Youth Orchestra is currently preparing for their Christmas concert, which will take place on Sunday 8 December at the Gracie Fields Theatre.

Sue added: “The new players have all done brilliantly.”
