Date published: 04 October 2013

Nominations for the 2014 Young Citizen Awards are now open and nominations are open for anyone aged between 6 and 18 years old.

The Rotary Club of Middleton committee will examine the nominations and decide who will be invited to a ceremony where the overall winner is decided.

Sue Furby, Chairwoman of the Youth and Vocational Committee said: “We are looking for young people who have gone above and beyond. People such as young carers, people who do charity work or people who do work for good causes.”

Sue added: “We look at the criteria on the nomination form to decide on the overall winner but everyone who attends will receive a certificate.”

The awards were first held this year of twelve young people from Middleton nominated by schools, clubs and friends, Jodie Kushner was named the first Young Citizen of the Year at a ceremony in June.

“It was really successful last year and doing something like this for the public can be scary but it was worth it,” said Sue.

The club hope schools and local clubs will send in nominations.

Sue added: “We’re just trying to get it out there now and branch out the nominations so we can reach as many people as we can. Hopefully it will be bigger and better than last year.”

Nomination forms (below) can be completed and sent to the Rotary Club either via email at middletonrotaryyvpc@yahoo.co.uk or printed and posted to:
