‘Men Of Rochdale’ Luncheon 2013

Date published: 04 October 2013

The nineteenth annual Men of Rochdale Luncheon will take place in the Great Hall at Rochdale Town Hall on Friday 29 November.

The luncheon is held annually to honour the man, who through public nominations and then final analysis by the Men of Rochdale Committee, is considered to have made the most significant contribution to the Rochdale community.

Tickets are available from the Fundraising Department at Springhill Hospice, priced at £37. This includes a four course lunch, a beer reception and entertainment from  Norman Prince, the former frontman of The Houghton Weavers.

Alison McGuigan, Fundraising Lead at Springhill Hospice said: “Our Man of Rochdale event is one of our most popular events in our annual calendar.

"We are so grateful to Mr Prince for his offer to entertain us this year. As a Patron of Springhill Hospice, he is an invaluable asset to the team, and believe me, he is a fabulous entertainer.

"Over and above the food and the entertainment, it is always a privilege to watch the new Man of Rochdale crowned, a very humbling afternoon, and a great social occasion.”

The 2012 Man of the Year was Mr Norman Wellens of Wellens Funeral Directors, and previous holders of the title include Stephen Butterworth, Garry Whitworth, Roman Paraszczak, Colin Fielding, Father Arthur Nearey, Ken Davies, Steve Cohen, David Grime, Brian Beal, Fred Bowker, Jack Hammill, Dr Jack Taylor, Gerry Sullivan, Frank Lever, Jim Rowbotham, Joe Salt, Marcus Hilton MBE and the very first recipient, former Mayor of Rochdale, Arnold Bagnall.
