Period photo shoot at Healey Dell Heritage Centre & Tea Rooms
Healey Dell Heritage Centre & Tea Rooms set in the Healey Dell Nature Reserve has been chosen as the ideal setting for a photographic shoot of high-end vintage clothing.
Shooting will start next Thursday when both the ground floor Heritage Room and the first floor Tea Rooms will be taken over with make-up artist and models under the direction of photographer Terry McNamara.
"I feel so privileged that the centre is in demand for such quality photography shoots", explained Janice Percy Co-Founder of the centre.
"We have only been open for six months and the level of interest from photographers, models and private companies has blown us away."
The centre, which opened six months ago, is run entirely by unpaid volunteers and all proceeds are re-invested into the centre and towards a number of other projects designed to assist children and young people affected by severe living conditions.
"Each time the phone rings with a request to use the centre for a location shoot, I think back to the freezing cold evenings and nights spent decorating in the hope that once open to the public the decor would look good enough.
"The building was in a sorry state when we took it over and in the absence of any outside funding we felt totally overwhelmed at the magnitude of what we had taken on.
"Fortunately, Dulux stepped in and provided the paint, so our next mission was to recruit a team of volunteer decorators.
"Myself, Phil Barrett (Co-Founder) and our partners worked on transforming the building seven nights a week over a three month period. We were supported by a small but tireless group of loyal supporters and despite working into the early hours on so many occasions, the building was deemed ready to open on time.
"We knew that if the centre was to eventually fund itself and our many other charitable initiatives it would have to hold great appeal.
"We begged, borrowed and invested a significant amount of our own money into ensuring the building would be used and enjoyed by as many people as possible.
"We set out to create a setting where walkers, families and couples could escape the elements and be transported back into an era where real tea was served from a teapot, finger sandwiches and cakes from three tier china cake stands against a backdrop of period styling and sparkling chandeliers."
The centre is now enjoying visitors from across the while of the UK and is ranked as the region's number one tourist attractions on Tripadvisor.
Open Friday's, Saturday's and Sunday the venture is already on target to achieve its aims.
