New DI for Rochdale North

Date published: 02 October 2013

Detective Inspector Lee Hopwood is the new neighbourhood Detective Inspector for the Rochdale North area. He replaces DI Andrew Aston, who has taken on another role at Rochdale.

Detective Inspector Hopwood joined Greater Manchester Police in 1992 and began his career as a Constable in Oldham. He went on to work on various teams such as CID and the Drug Unit, where he gained valuable experience and knowledge.

In 2002 he was promoted to Sergeant in Oldham, he worked as Detective Sergeant in CID and the Volume Crime Unit, where he worked with communities and partner agencies to address crime issues.

In the Detective Inspector role for the Rochdale North team, he will work with the Rochdale North Neighbourhood Inspector Umer Khan to address local issues.

DI Hopwood said: "I'm really pleased to be working for the Rochdale North Neighbourhood and know that I'm joining an already established and effective policing team.

"I am keen to tackle crimes which have most impact on people's lives, especially burglary, robbery and vehicle crime, but also those issues that concern people the most, such as organised crime.

“People within the community should not underestimate the part they can play in making Rochdale North a safer place to live, and I would like to take this opportunity to encourage them to contact us about what is happening in their area.”
