Year 7 pupils Macmillan Coffee Morning

Date published: 02 October 2013

Wardle Academy hosted a Macmillan Coffee Morning on Friday 27 September. Year 7 pupils were involved in the day and invited their family and friends along for the morning where they were offered a fantastic selection of drinks and cakes.

The morning also featured competitions and prizes. The winner of the Invitation competition was Anmol Kanwal, and the winner of the Guess the Beans was Gwen Moulton. Leighvi Bannister, a Year 7 pupil, created a superb Pirate Cake and this was used as a raffle prize to raise money. The winner of the raffle was Nicholas Mannion, year 7.

Mrs Janet Emsley said: “Year 7 invited people to attend our Macmillan Coffee Morning. They came in their dozens! We were completely overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone who gave their time and their money to support our fundraising for Macmillan. We hope that all those who came enjoyed their cakes and drinks; we enjoyed making them and serving you. This year we have raised a magnificent £667.02 for Macmillan Cancer Support.”

Staff, parents and students at Wardle Academy have been affected by cancer, directly and indirectly, and many have benefited from the practical, medical and financial support that Macmillan provides. We raise money annually to give to Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of and to support these colleagues and friends.
