A huge well done to Kallum in Year 11 for qualifying as a trampoline coach.

Redwood are holding an Open Day on the 6 November for post 16 students, this will include presentations on our Internship Programme, Bridging Year Programme and 6th form provision.

Nominations for the Student Council elections took place on the 4 October- more details next week.

Key Stage 4 news:

The Bridging Year have settled into their course, the course involves working towards accreditations which enable them to access the college curriculum and taking part in vocational courses which are run by MANTRA.

4M have started their own enterprise and have decided to cook and sell bake potatoes for staff.

Creative Studies offers a wide variety of activities including craft, pottery, cookery and animal care, this week one class created some fabulous owl key rings!
The Key stage have a new and exciting role this term which involves supporting other students at break time and running a support group for students and representing the department in assemblies and attending student council meetings. This responsible role has been undertaken by Gary!

Key Stage 3 news:

5 students attended the Manchester United v Liverpool game on, last week they went to Rochdale FC for a ‘chippy’ tea and then onto the game.

Some of the year 7’s went to Queens Park they had a great time in the playground and took lots of pictures of different shapes for their maths topic.

Some of our Year 9 pupils have been learning how to play different instruments that are used in Rock Bands!

6th Form news:

Students in the Motor Vehicle group have learnt to identify the different parts of a car. The horticulture students took on the job of cleaning up the green house, everyone worked really hard to sweep and tidy up and now it’s almost finished and looking good.
The PIP group visited the Cutgate shopping precinct as part of their social inclusion session. Students looked at road and personal safety when out in the community. They identified SMART targets for themselves, which they will be working on over the next few weeks.

In Sensory Interaction one group has been looking at pineapples. They took turns tasting pineapple juice, eating tinned pineapples and enjoying a fresh pineapple. The group also made a pineapple upside-down cake which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.
