Man who jumped out of window in serious condition

Date published: 27 September 2013

Ian Pickup, the man who jumped out of a window at a house in Brotherod last Friday (20 September), is in a serious condition in hospital.

His cousin, Den Pickup said; “It is very touch and go. We nearly lost him yesterday. We have to take it day by day.”

Since his condition has worsened, Den is now appealing for Ian’s closer family to come forward. Ian has two sisters in Australia and is believed to have a sister, Angela, living in Oldham.

Den said: “We just need to get in touch with them so they know what is going on. If anyone knows where Angela is, or what her surname might be now, please let us know.”

It is still unclear why Ian jumped from the window. Ian had previously suffered a breakdown and admitted trying to kill himself.

“What’s gone on, we don’t know” added Den.

Comments left by users on Facebook about Ian’s accident have upset Den and his wife. Den said: “It is frustrating when people leave stupid comments and don’t even ask how he is when it is a serious matter.”

Comments on the site included: 'It’s not very high' and 'silly sod'. Den added: “People say it’s not very high like if he had jumped from a block of flats that would make it better. You get weirdo’s leaving stupid comments and it’s not on.”
