A new steering group has been formed to promote Rochdale’s heritage.
A council spokesman said: "The group of 22 nominees will be self-run, with the aim of providing a single, strong voice, which speaks for heritage across the borough. The group discussed how it hopes to be a forum for sharing and generating ideas."
Councillor Farooq Ahmed chaired the inaugural meeting of the group yesterday, he said: “The group is made up of members of the public and representatives of a wide variety of organisations across Rochdale, Middleton, Heywood and the Pennine townships. We all have one thing in common, we love the borough and want to make the most of our rich cultural history.”
