Police release images of armed robbers

Date published: 26 September 2013

Police have released images of armed robbers who held up a Rochdale bookies.

The robbery happened at about 3.20pm on Sunday 15 September 2013 when the two masked raiders went into Ladbrokes on The Strand, Kirkholt, armed with large knives.

They vaulted the counter and stole a quantity of cash from the till before running off in the direction of Kirkway.

Both offenders were white, about 5ft 8in tall and one wore a Scream-style mask while the other wore a dark mask. The one with the Scream mask had a 12 inch blade red-handled knife while the other had a 12 inch knife

Detective Constable Laura Sutcliffe, of Rochdale East neighbourhood team, said: "There is no doubt that this would have been a scary moment for anyone in that bookies, particularly as one of the robbers was wearing a Scream-style mask.

"Thankfully they didn't resort to violence at any point but that doesn't minimise the psychological impact of being threatened by masked men wielding large knives.

"However, the bookmakers had the precaution of having a good quality CCTV system in place and it has managed to capture some clear and distinct images of the criminals.

"If you recognise the men in the photos, or any of their clothing, or have any information at all then please call Rochdale East neighbourhood policing team on 0161 856 8549 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
