Well done to the ten Year 8 CEPA Learning Champions who received their badges and certificates this week after attending a two hour training session after school. Learners received training in leading a small group activity, Health and Safety in the Arts, effective communication and creativity. Many thanks to parents and families who came along to join us at the end of the evening and share in pupil success.

Many thanks to all those parents, families and friends who joined us for our Open Evening this week. Tours around our brand new building take place this weekend on Saturday 28 September from 10am until 12noon. To book a place on one of the tours and to see our state-of-the-art new facilities, please contact school directly. Well done to all those students who came along to Drama Club this week. The club runs every Tuesday from 2.45pm until 4.00pm in the Drama Studio and all years are welcome. Please see Mr Mvula for more details.

Our year 7 Intake Evening takes place on Tuesday 1 October and offers parents the opportunity to check that their child has fully settled and to learn about the progress he or she is making to date. Appointments are booked using the forms issued to children in tutor time this week. For more details or further enquiries, please contact Mrs Rudkowskyj or Ms Barlow directly in school.

Visits have been organised to see ‘Chicago’ at The Oldham Coliseum this term and to see ‘Wicked’ at The Palace Theatre. If you would like to come along and join us then please see Ms Williams and Mr Mvula for a letter. These are available from the CEPA Office at breaktimes, lunchtimes or after school.

Tickets for our visit to Wycoller Hall in Lancashire to watch our BTEC Drama students perform an outdoor showcase of spooky ghost stories on the 25 October are available from the CEPA Office now. The evening is titled ‘Night Terrors’ and features different spooky sketches and dramas. Transport is available for a limited number of parents and families; please contact Mr De Courcey for more details. Tickets cost £3.00 (no concs.)

Tickets for our forthcoming ‘Arts and Curry Night’ on Friday, 22 November 2013 from 6.00pm until 8.30pm. The evening will feature dance, drama, music and family quiz rounds and the ticket includes curry and rice and Indian snacks. (Vegetarian options available). Tickets cost £5.00 (no concs.) including food and are available from the CEPA Office at breaktime, lunchtime of after school or by contacting the school directly.

Our new Arts Community Events Calendar has now been published and is available from school and other venues across Rochdale. An electronic copy of the calendar is available from our website at www.falingepark.com Highlights for October and November include a ‘Monster Masks!’ Workshop for primary learners and a Japanese ‘Tatebanko’ Paper Art Workshop for Years 5 and 6.

Letters for our forthcoming Literacy Treasure Trail Evening are to be issued this week to our Year 7 CALL learners. The evening offers parents the chance to discover reading strategies used in school and learn more about our CALL curriculum. For more details about the event, please contact Mr De Courcey in school.

Our new edition of ‘Create!’ magazine is issued to tutor groups and online at our school website. This edition sees pages on our CALL Summer School and the Summer Barcelona Visit as well as news of our current Artsaward Silver and Gold projects. Paper copies are available directly from school.
