Friends of Hollingworth Lake held a fun day in order to celebrate the wild species at Hollingworth Lake today (Saturday 21 September) as a follow on to previous events, funded by the Community Spaces Fund.
Secretary of Friends of Hollingworth Lake, Jane Taylor-Holmes, said: “It is an action packed day highlighting the area to people.”
The day included building bird and bat boxes, meeting hedgehogs, a mini beast hunt, bat walk, chainsaw sculpting and colouring activities.
Jane added: “We have had a lot of interest and had quiet a lot of people getting involved.”
The event was organised by Friends of Hollingworth Lake with funding from The Big Lottery and with the support of Rochdale Council.
Friends of Hollingworth Lake set up in 2007 in aim of developing and improving new and existing facilities.
The event was held at the enviro-gym playground near the nature reserve. The playground was one of the activities funded by the Community Spaces Fund.
