Hamer Community Primary School

Date published: 20 September 2013

As part of the School’s partnership with Manchester University (through the IPLCN) we welcomed 2 students to Hamer on Tuesday. They observed maths lessons in both the Foundation Stage and also Key Stage One and were very impressed with the standard of teaching and the learning, behaviour and attitudes of our children.

Our eight Year 6 Ambassadors will be working with our friends from Marland Hill again on Monday. We are delighted by how proud they are of themselves and our school.

Miss Nicholson’s class have been awarded the Citizens of the Week for an excellent and exciting assembly. The children have been learning about months of the year and birthdays. The children made fantastic signs with their own dates of birth on and they all stood in order of the month they were born in. The most popular month was June with six children’s birthdays.

They have also been learning in Science about Forces and Motion. They have been using words like twist, stretch, roll, push, pull, bend, slide and direction, which the children have been using to describe what they had done to make the clay models of the Big Bad Wolf.

This week we have seen a lot of children being taken out of school for various appointments. Please can you be mindful when booking these appointments that they really do need to be outside of the school day. We appreciate that some appointments are sent to you and that can’t be avoided, but most non urgent appointments can be made for after school. We really don’t want the children’s teaching and learning being interrupted. Thank you

As you know Car Park, Parking and Disabled Spaces is a regular feature and request on the weekly newsletter. However, once again we need to ask for you all to take responsibility for making appropriate and safe decisions linked to parking on and around the school grounds. We need to keep the car park safe also some of the parking on Calder Street is causing tailbacks onto the dual carriageway. We need your support to work with us with the common goal of keeping our children safe.
