RBH looking for help identifying volunteering opportunities

Date published: 19 September 2013

RBH Volunteering Co-ordinator, Daniel Turner is asking for help from RBH tenants and employees to help the mutually owner organisation identify volunteering opportunities.

Daniel said: "RBH is committed to working with tenants and residents to make improvements in our neighbourhoods. However, we want to encourage and embed a culture of mutuality throughout the organisation, so all RBH employees have permission to volunteer for up to two days a year in activities that have a positive effect on our tenants and/or our communities.

"That doesn’t sound earth-shaking does it? But to put that into perspective, RBH currently has over 600 employees who can volunteer for two days a year; we crunched the numbers and that equates to over 8,400 volunteering hours whereby employees can be helping to make a difference.

"Many employees have already dived straight into volunteering and have been helping out on the following activities across the borough: gardening activities, litter picks, craft workshops, children’s sporting activities in the school holidays, to name but a few.

"We recognise that those activities barely scratch beneath the surface of the areas that a positive difference can be made if employees work together with our tenants and residents. So we want your ideas for volunteering activities that we can look to develop and offer across our communities, for example, DIY in community venues, painting community venues, helping run community groups - the restrictions are limited by your imagination and personal skills only."

Whether you are a RBH employee or tenant member, if you have ideas that you would like to suggest please get in touch with Daniel Turner.
