Hollingworth students to visit WW1 Battlefields

In 2014 it will be the 100th anniversary of WW1. Hollingworth History department will be running a special trip to visit the battlefields for all year 9 pupils.

We have variety of after school clubs on offer at Hollingworth; here are a few:

Maths Club is open to all Years 7 and 8 who enjoy solving puzzles and challenges. Our first challenge will begin on Monday 23rd September at 2.50pm in Room 110. If you are interested, please see Miss Stelfox, Miss Lewis or Mr Livesey.

Join a winning team for this year’s First Lego League 2013. The first team meeting will take place after school on Tuesday 17 September in Room 024. Any pupil wishing to attend needs to collect an entry form from Mr Royle.

Chess Club will start again on Tuesday in Room 109. All are welcome and it’s a great opportunity to make some new check-mates. Any questions, please see Mr Livesey.

Art Club for KS3 has now started and takes place in Room 229 at 1.50pm and finishes at 2.50pm.

Calling all Year 7s to join our exciting new club! STEM Club will take on projects like: Who can build the best rocket? Who can build the strongest bridge? How can we make slime? These are only a few projects that we will undertake this year. It will take place on a Wednesday 2.50p to 3.50pm starting in Room 123. If you are interested in joining, or just want more information, you need to come to Room 123 for a letter and speak to Miss Beckham about it.

After school Urdu lessons have recommenced:

• Years 7 and 8: 1.50pm to 2.50pm in Room 001.
• Years 9, 10 and 11 (and pupils in 8CD and 8KW): 2.50pm to 3.50pm in Room 003.

These lessons are open to new Year 7 pupils who already have some knowledge of Urdu. Please see Miss Hobbs in Room 001 if you would like further information.

The Art department are offering a Mini Art Pack to KS3 pupils. If you are interested, please ask your Art teacher for a letter.

Hollingworth History department will be running a special trip to visit the battlefields for all year 9 pupils. All signed replies and deposits must be returned on Monday 23 September. Places will be issued on a first come, first serve basis.

A number of pupils are behind on their ski payments. Please make sure all payments are up to date by the end of this month. Payments should now be paid via WisePay. If you are unsure of how much you owe then please see Mr Mannion as soon as possible.
