Date published: 18 September 2013
An officer with Greater Manchester Police Rochdale South neighbourhood team covering Balderstone, Kirkholt, Castleton and Kingsway has been charged with rape.
Stuart Jenkins, 37, of Holcombe Brook Road, Bury, is accused of raping a 26-year-old old woman while he was off duty more than two years ago.
Mr Jenkins was arrested in May and is due to appear before Preston Crown Court on 31 October. He is suspended pending the result of the court case.
Police released details in May but only confirmed he was an officer this week.
The offence is alleged to have taken place at a house between 24 December 2010 and 1 January 2011.
