On Thursday 12 September our Yr9 Enterprise class went to Chester Zoo to learn about the risks faced by endangered species and the zoo’s conservation efforts to help save them. The students involved will be using the knowledge they have gained to assist them in setting up their own fundraising company, from which the proceeds will go to the zoo’s own charity to help fund endangered species protection projects.

On the same day a year 11 student also attended Chester Zoo, but with a totally different schedule planned! Josh Crabtree in 11B was given the opportunity to learn more about his dream career by becoming a zoo keeper for the day. He had the chance to feed Giraffes and Meerkats and talk to their keepers about caring for the animals and also to ask about the qualifications and experience needed to get into the profession. - Mrs Sladen.

On Wednesday 25 September, the Year 10 Gifted and Talented students are going to Lancaster University for a visit consisting of a tour of the university campus, a talk from student ambassadors and an academic activity. We hope they all have a good day out and enjoy a taste of the university experience as they think about their future educational paths.

Students from Year 11 will be taking part in an Art Sculpture Day on Friday 27 September, with visiting artist Jade Alana, a Ceramicist who will be inspiring our students to create text based clay work based on the theme of Metamorphosis. Students will be looking at a variety of examples from literature and poetry that will be translated into 3-Dimensional pieces that can be displayed around school.
