Littleborough Allotment Show

Date published: 15 September 2013

The 72nd Littleborough Allotment and Horticultural Show was held today (Sunday 15 September) at Littleborough Coach House.

The show has been successfully running for 72 years produce on offer includes fresh food, plants, home made jam and cakes, fresh food such as potatos, onions and carrots, flower displays and home made crafts, including greetings cards, photography and cross stitching.

Rebecca Baxter-Hollows, Secretary of the Horticultural Society, said: “It’s really about showing people the produce and trying to keep the show going.

“We have done really well this year with entries and we have had a lot of entries for the children’s section.”

The show received 51 entries and participants demonstrating their work were able to show between one and three pieces.

Winners at the show were presented with trophies donated by Gordon Rigg Garden Centre. “After we have presented the trophies, the produce is auctioned off so a lot of people come for that part of the show,” said Rebecca.

The show began setting up on Friday evening and participants displaying their work were able to set up their pieces on Saturday.

The show is organised through the show committee and the allotment committee.

Rebecca added: “Everyone and anyone is involved in sorting the show out.”
