Would be thieves were left empty handed after a robbery attempt at Chaca Jewellers on Yorkshire Street, Rochdale failed.
At 7.00pm on Thursday 12 September the thieves reversed a white transit van into the back wall of the building a number of times but fled in a separate car when police were called.
Owner of the jewellers, Kamran Ahmed said: “I just saw a van being reversed into the wall.”
Mr Ahmed was inside the building during the robbery attempt as members of the public witnessed the attempt from outside. “There were about fifteen people outside who saw everything,” added Mr Ahmed.
The van used was left at the scene and has now been seized by police. It is understood that the van was stolen and was displaying false number plates.
Mr Ahmed added: “The police are looking into everything and they came straight away.”
Anybody with any further information regarding the robbery can contact police on 0161 856 8424 or crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Information can also be passed to police using the non emergency number 101.
