Wearing jeans to change lives

Date published: 13 September 2013

When NHS Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale Clinical Commissioning Group’s (HMR CCG) governing body meets on Friday 20 September members will be wearing jeans to support national Jeans for Genes Day.

Jeans for Genes Day raises money for Genetic Disorders UK and aims to change the world for children with genetic disorders. To find out more, visit www.jeansforgenesday.org.

The public is invited to attend the monthly governing body meetings, where official business is discussed and formal decisions are made about everything from policies to which health services will be commissioned.

Public questions are welcome and can either be submitted through the website (www.hmr.nhs.uk, under ‘about us’, then ‘governing body meetings’) or asked during the open questions slot at beginning of the meeting.

Dr Chris Duffy, local GP and Chairman of NHS HMR CCG, said: “You may notice a bit of a difference this month, as it’s out with the formal work wear and in with the jeans. The governing body felt it was important to support national Jeans for Genes day, which falls on the same day as our meeting. As an NHS organisation, we appreciate the importance of supporting charities – local and national – that are working hard to make a difference to people’s health.

“As always, we welcome members of the public to attend and ask us their questions. We do our best to provide an answer on the day, but if this is not possible, we will get back to you with a full response before the next meeting.”

The next meeting takes place on Friday 20 September, 10.30am-1pm, in room Hollingworth C, Number One Riverside, Smith Street, Rochdale, OL16 1XU.

This month the governing body will be making decisions about integrated care, integrated community cardiology, end of life care and the options for future use of Tudor Court and Springhill Hospice. They will also be reviewing the CCG’s incident response plan.

Members of the public wishing to ask a question are asked to arrive at 10am and report to reception at Number One Riverside.

The agenda and papers for the meeting will be available on the ‘about us’ section of the website www.hmr.nhs.uk in advance of the meeting.

A full schedule of governing body meetings can also be found on the governing body pages of the website.
