Date published: 08 September 2013

Littleborough Lacemakers is a self-help group who create lace by hand. The group held a display of their work at Littleborough Coach House this afternoon (Sunday 8 September) as well as making lace on site.

The group currently has twenty members and meets on Wednesday evenings at St Mary's Church Hall, Halifax Road, Littleborough from 7pm-9pm.

Jean Goodyard, a member of the group said: “It is a really helpful and kind group.”

The work on display today fell under the theme of seasons and included examples of bobbin, needle, knitted, crochet, tatting and harpin lace.

Audrey Huggon, another group member added: “We will help anyone who wants to come along. They don’t have to go out and buy everything, we will set them up to get them started.”

The group make a variety of pieces including lace edging, collars and mats. The group also does knitting and embroidery.

“We all do it for our own pleasure and enjoyment,” added Jean.

All are welcome to the group whether you are a novice trying your hand at a new skill or an experienced lace maker.
