Rochdale Heartbeat celebrate in style

Date published: 08 September 2013

Rochdale Heartbeat has been celebrating its 25th Anniversary throughout the year and held an anniversary party at the Masonic Hall in Rochdale yesterday evening (Saturday 7 September).

The group, who help support heart patients in Rochdale, began in 1988 as a small group but have succeeded in their efforts to help people and are happy to be celebrating twenty-five years.

Secretary of Heartbeat, Sue Ridgard said: “We’re hoping for a really good night so we can say thank you to everyone who has helped and supported us over the years.”

During the event, guests in attendance were treated to either meat and potato pie or cheese and onion pie and entertainment from singer Robert Neil and a Latin American dance display. Sue also gave a talk to guests and included a reading of a letter from the consultant who helped start the group.

Ninety four people attended the celebrations and included members of Rochdale Heartbeat, friends, family and many supporters of the group.

Sue added: “We have been celebrating the 25th anniversary throughout the year and I think that’s the right way to do it.”

Heartbeat held a charity ball in April and have their annual brass band concert next Saturday (Saturday 14 September) at the Gracie Fields Theatre.

“All of these events add to our overall celebrations.

“It would be nice to raise a couple of hundred pound this evening but you can never really tell,” said
Sue.

Rochdale Heartbeat became a registered charity in 1990 and helps support the Coronary Care Unit at Rochdale Infirmary and provides support for heart patients and their families during recovery.
