Wardle Band to perform at the Royal Albert Hall

Date published: 06 September 2013

Wardle Band competed in the Music for Youth National Festival in July and this week they were informed they have been invited to perform at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

The band will open the Schools’ Prom in November with a performance of Old 100th by Vaughan Williams before performing Toccata from Suite Gothique by Léon Boëllmann.

Wardle High School has now successfully converted to Academy status, but the band will be going to the Albert Hall as Wardle High School Band as this is what they were when they performed at the Birmingham Symphony Hall.

The band will be conducted by Lee Rigg.

Janet Emsley said: "This will be the fourth time since 2000 that our school band has performed at the Royal Albert Hall. What an incredible achievement for one school, well done to everyone.

"The trip will be a fantastic experience for all but it will also be an expensive one. Anyone wishing to sponsor the trip would be of great help to the performing arts team."
