Nine-year-old Connor Dunning is raising money for the April Jones charity by taking part in a sponsored swim.
Connor, from Rochdale decided to help raise money for a memorial garden for April.
Michelle Hardacker, Connor's mum said: “He saw some posts on my news feed about it and it broke his heart so he asked if he could do a sponsored swim to help.”
Connor who has done similar events like this before will be swimming ten lengths at Heywood Swimming Baths and originally wanted to raise £100.
Michelle said: “He’s raised £175 now so he has smashed his target.”
The charity swim will raise money for plants to go in a memorial garden for April Jones.
Michelle contacted April's mum directly to ask if the event was OK and she said yes and supports the event.
Connor has previously raised money for the charity DEBRA, a charity which helps people who suffer from the genetic skin blistering condition Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). Connor raised £87 through that event.
Michelle added: “I’m really proud of him. He is only nine and he would rather raise money for charity then play out.”
