Dry, warm weather to be replaced by heavy rain by the weekend
Date published: 04 September 2013
The dry, fine, sunny and very warm weather we have seen today will continue tomorrow but is set to be replaced with heavy rain come the weekend.
Temperatures reached 24C in Rochdale today. Friday and Saturday, however, show a turn towards unsettled, cooler and wetter conditions.
Eddy Carroll Chief Forecaster at the Met Office said: “The weekend will see a big change. From Friday we will see widespread rain. The public are advised to keep up to date with our forecasts and warnings.”
Along with potentially significant rainfall totals, on Friday we will also see temperatures drop to near normal for areas affected by the wetter and windier conditions, resulting in it feeling much cooler.
The unsettled conditions are set to remain throughout the weekend and into early next week.
