Young people in Rochdale are being urged to consider doing an Apprenticeship

Date published: 02 September 2013

Rochdale Training currently has more than 50 apprenticeship vacancies available for 16-24 year olds who want to earn as they learn.

The team work with employers across Greater Manchester to train apprentices in a variety of sectors such as construction, engineering, childcare, health/social care and IT.

Apprentices complete an NVQ, technical certificate and functional skills in numeracy and literacy.

Apprenticeships have risen in popularity as the Government has put more emphasis on vocational qualifications to fill the UK’s skills gap.

Rochdale Training is the leading provider in Rochdale and has been recently awarded “Outstanding” by Ofsted for Teaching, Training and Learning.

Mark Whittaker from the apprenticeship team said: “An apprenticeship allows you to earn while you learn. Not only do you get training, but you also get work experience as you are given a placement in a real business.

“At the end of the apprenticeship you are equipped for a career in a skilled job without any of the debt that comes with going to university.”

“Our team currently have big name employers offering careers with significant opportunities for young people. Our recruitment team are on hand to support candidates enter the world of work, supported by a variety of local employers."
