MT Heads Charity Bike Show

Date published: 01 September 2013

Rochdale Town Hall Square was taken over by hundreds of bikers today (Sunday 1 September) as the MT Heads MCC Bikers Charity Bike Show hit town.

The annual show is organised to raise money for charity - all profits going to MT Heads chosen charity, the Association of Dance and Performing Arts (ADPA), which provides free training, projects and activities to children resident in Rochdale affected by severe disadvantage and/or extremely challenging living conditions.

Bikes were on show in lots of categories, food, drink, stalls selling biking wares and 16 bands playing on two stages in the Flying Horse kept the bikers entertained.

MT Heads event organiser, Julie Cliff said the motorcycle club was hoping to raise lots of money for ADPA.

She added: "I am really pleased with such an excellent turn out. I would like to thank everyone for coming and the sponsors. It is particularly good that local motorbike store Robinson's have come along with their racing bikes."

The organiser of the 16 bands entertaining in The Flying Horse was Gemma Fox, a musician who plays in three bands, including Collibus, a metal band and a covers band, Outfoxed, that often play in the Flying Horse. Gemma said: "I know lots of bands and musicians so I asked them if they would like to play. I also came across one young woman, Emily Tudbury, busking in Bury and thought she was so good I asked her if she would come along and play."

Emily, a singer/guitarist, played a solo acoustic set and confessed to being nervous but played superbly.

She was followed by an electic bunch of bands who were rocking the packed crowd in 'The Flyer' from early afternoon until well into the night.

Co-owner of The Flying Horse, Ben Boothman, said: "MT Heads meet here each Monday and put on this event each year. It is always well attended and supported and raises a lot of money for charity."
