The Feeling headline the Feel Good Festival

Date published: 01 September 2013

The Feeling headlined this year's Feel Good Festival to a packed out audience.

The Brit-award nominated pop rock band performed a number of their well known hits and two songs from their new album, Boy Cried Wolf.

Before their performance, Dan Gillespie Sells (lead singer) and Ciaran Jeremiah (keyboard player) spoke to Rochdale Online.

“We have never played Rochdale before. We thought we had played every town possible but not Rochdale,” said Dan.

“Its lovely to be here and we are looking forward to closing the festival this year,” added Ciaran.

Even though they have been performing on stage for many years, the band admitted to feeling nervous before a performance. “Nerves is something that never goes away,” said Dan. “I still get as nervous now as when I was at 16."

“The nerves become part of your daily routine really,” said Ciaran.

“99% of the time we have great gigs but you always expect to find that one that isn’t great” added Dan.

The band, who worked for ten years before making it big, described themselves as a family. Dan said: “All five of us are like a family and we know how to communicate with each other and know how to look after each other.”

Talking about their fans at length, both Dan and Ciaran agreed that their fans were incredibly important to them. “There are two people involved in making music, the artist and the fan base” said Dan. “We are grateful to have survived in an industry were bands aren’t fashionable now.”

“We are proud that we are a radio band and that we are the kind of band that people like from listening to a song on the radio. People have busy lives and have children to feed and when they go ice skating, they want to put on a CD that they can enjoy and we are proud to be that band,” said Dan.

“We have a drive to keep making music because this is what we know how to do,” said Ciaran.

The Feeling's new album, Boy Cried Wolf, is due to be released on 7 October.
