Feel Good Festival: Simon Rimmer packs out celebrity kitchen

Date published: 01 September 2013

Channel 4 chef, Simon Rimmer packed out the celebrity kitchen area of the Feel Good Festival.

The chef’s demonstrations were so popular that people had to stand around the celebrity kitchen area to watch.

Simon, who presents Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch, held three cooking demonstrations throughout the day and cooked a variety of dishes throughout.

During his 11am session Simon cooked lamb rump with bean casserole, chicken with bean casserole and seabass with a warm salad.

Simon, who attended the festival for the first time this year, said: “It’s a good festival and the crowds were great.”

During his second session Simon cooked a shalot tarte tatin and pork meatballs and in his final session he cooked a chicken wing dish with a spicy sauce.

When deciding on what to cook during his demonstrations, Simon wanted to do things that people could copy. He said: “Because this is a community festival I wanted to do things that people will think about doing at home.

“These dishes are all things people can cook themselves and can go home and do.

"People are afraid that they don’t have time to cook but the dishes I have done can all be done in minutes."

Simon used a variety of fresh ingredients in his dishes including butterbeans, parsley, garlic and red onion.

Simon visited the town hall and said: “It is a really beautiful building. It’s the first time I’ve been in the great hall and it is one of the nicest places I’ve seen.”
