Freehold community celebration day

Date published: 28 August 2013

Residents in Freehold enjoyed a community celebration day, which included a community dance, sports activities, a DJ and free health checks. The Fire Service and the Police also joined in to offer advice and support.

The event was organised by the neighbourhood housing team from Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH) as part of RBH’s ‘Our Place’ project.

Gill Wildman, RBH Housing Officer, said: “It was a very successful day. We’re very grateful for the support from community volunteers as well as other services and activity providers. There were activities and food reflecting the range of cultures on Freehold.

"Thanks to all the residents who joined in and had a good day, especially as someone ordered sunshine.”

As part of the ‘Our Place’ project, residents had the opportunity to have a chat with their neighbourhood housing team about what they thought about living on Freehold. The feedback from residents will help to develop a local ‘Our Place’ action plan which will be delivered by RBH, partner organisations and residents of the area.

Karen Salisbury, RBH Engagement Officer, said: “We used the event to carry out an 'Our Place' consultation with Freehold residents, which will lead to an action plan to improve the area. Our consultation was very successful, and the event went well with good attendance and everyone enjoyed themselves. Lots of residents of all ages took part in the consultation which is very much appreciated.”
