REAG plants flowers at Henry Street car park

Date published: 29 April 2013

Members of the Rochdale Environmental Action Group have planted flowers at the car park on Henry Street and cleared the weeds.

A sppkesman said: "Many new members joined in this initiative and next Saturday we plan to clean the Stoneyfield Park, Boundary Street and Osborne Street in Deeplish Area.

"Other planned initiatives are 'Back Alleys in Bloom' as we feel that, because of the alley gates on both sides, these are the safe places for our kids to play.

"The clean environment does impact on the attitude of people as this was evident from the fact that they cleaned the car park about six weeks ago and since then no litter has been thrown there.

"If we keep our streets and roads clean, then there is more chance of keeping the environment cleaner and greener.

"We believe that any positive small thing or action which we contribute will ultimately benefit the people of Rochdale and improve its image.

"Only people of Rochdale can make it more vibrant, cleaner, more prosperous and a safer place to live for us and for our future generations.

"If individuals, organisations and businesses take responsibility to keep the area clean, within a short period, Rochdale will be a cleaner and greener."
