St Cuthbert's Business and Enterprise College

The inaugural Mass of Pope Francis: as a Roman Catholic school, it was very important that we recognised and celebrated this religious and historical event.

We gave students and staff the opportunity to watch the Mass - form tutors showed the televised coverage during registration on Tuesday morning and coverage was also shown during RE lessons. Our whole school will continue to pray for Pope Francis.

Students from all year groups have been busy organising fundraising events for our Lenten charities. Sponsored events and activities have been taking place all week and we still have many more events planned for the remaining weeks in school before Easter.

Welcome back to Year 7 pupils and teachers who spent the weekend away on our annual PGL Trip. Congratulations also to our Athletics Teams and our girls’ rugby team for their recent achievements.

The Boys Ensemble and the Musicals Ensemble took part in Rochdale Music Festival last week. Both groups were awarded Honours and presented with a Special Award for outstanding performances. Comments from adjudicator were, 'I am supposed to give points for improvement - I have none. An excellent performance.’

'All other groups in this festival can learn from you in terms of presentation, preparation and performance'. An emotional performance, well done'. Many congratulations to everyone involved: you are a real credit to our school.

This week’s themes were Lent and St Cuthbert and our Enterprise capability was Negotiating/Influencing. This half-term’s focus for Year 7 is Creativity and Innovation.
