My World at Matthew Moss High School

Meaning Making is one of the ELLI (Effective Lifelong Learning Inventory) dimensions.

I think that Meaning Making is easy to understand.

Meaning Making is basically taking your ideas and learning from one subject to another by making links. You learn everywhere you go, from school to home, and in your community.

For example, my friends and I were building a ramp at home for scooters and we used our Technology skills to put it together.

One time I was stuck in a Science lesson when we were weighing things, and I used my Maths skills to help me.

When someone is using the Meaning Making ELLI dimension, I think they will recognise that they are linking knowledge form previous experiences to help themselves in a new situation.

Over the past two months I hope you enjoyed reading about the ELLI dimensions, which my classmates and I wrote for the Rochdale Online website. Just to recap, all seven ELLI dimensions are:

Creativity
Critical curiosity
Resilience
Changing and learning
Strategic awareness
Learning relationships
Meaning making
