Congratulations to Sadaf Ali, Zaffar Hussain and Tabitha Rusden who were the winners of the 'I Love Dance' competition. Each of the winners receives a ticket to our 'Dynamite' Music Show, stationery and a chocolate prize as well as a certificate. Many thanks to all the learners who participated in our competition and there will be opportunities to take part in similar challenges soon.

We are delighted that FPHS dancers will feature in the Spiral Dance Company Showcase on Sunday 24 of March at 6pm. The showcase celebrates the hard work of dancers from across various groups and classes and we are proud that some of our learners are able to participate. For more details, visit the Spiral Dance company website.

The final touches have been put to a special art mural for our new school building and we hope to see it firmly established in the grounds of the new build in the next few weeks. Learners involved in the creation of the artwork will also receive a tour of the new site as the mural is put on display.

This weekend sees the 'Project Hugo' Showcase take place at Carnforth Station where learners will present Dance, Drama, Animation and Street Entertainment to a large audience in the setting of the famous railway station. Many thanks to all the learners of the primary schools involved in the project and we are keeping our fingers crossed for nice weather. Thanks also go to Ms Wystawnoha and all the staff who have helped to organise the event.

Year 8 Options Interviews have already begun and Year 8 learners should now be meeting with Heads of Community or leadership staff to discuss their option choices. Learners should have spent some time considering their options and should bring the relevant sheets and booklets to the interviews. For more details or any queries, please contact Mr Prendiville.

Year 7 CALL Learners have been busy creating a Poetry Garden in readiness for the summer. Learners have designed a special garden space which will feature poetry incorporated into stone paths and features and various 3D sculptures. The work will take place over the next term and after school on a regular basis. Many thanks to the various staff who have lent a hand so far and to Mr Bridge for leading a gardening session. It is hoped that the garden will be ready for a parent and learner party in the final stages of the summer term. We will keep you posted via our school website.

Tickets for our Music Concert, titled 'Dynamite' are available from the CEPA Office at breaktimes, lunchtimes and after school. The event takes place at the Norton Grange Hotel from 6pm until 8pm on Tuesday 26 of March. Tickets cost £3.00 and show features a range of solos, groups and bands from across the years. For more details, see Ms Williams.

There are still a few places left for the CEPA Faculty Edinburgh Visit which features the opportunity to see Matthew Bourne's ballet, 'Highland Fling' and to pay a visit to the Museum of Illusions, Dynamic Earth and the Real Mary King's Close. The visit to Scotland's capital also features a ghost tour and a walk along the Royal Mile. For more details, see Mr De Courcey.

We welcome our new members to Drama Club which runs every Wednesday in our Drama Studio from 3pm until 4pm and Mr Mvula and Mr Lomax have been leading a series of sessions based on improvisations and new drama techniques. The club is open to learners of all years and we always make new learners feel part of the group.

July sees the 25 edition anniversary of our Arts newsletter. We released our first newsletter in October 2006 and there have been termly releases and special editions since then. We hope to celebrate this special milestone with some special events and many thanks to all the people who have been part of its pages since then. The current edition can be downloaded from our school website.

This week sees learners take part in Science and Engineering Week at Falinge Park High School with a focus on Inventors and Inventions. A special programme of events has been released to each tutor group and a series of great workshops and sessions is planned. Many thanks to Ms Kowlaski and the Science team for tall their hard work in making the week so exciting.

Primary learners who participated in our special Halle 'Adopt-A-Player' concert last week will each receive a special certificate to celebrate the success of the event. For more details, contact Mr Morley or Mr Jackson.
